Park Rotana is a modern five-star business and leisure hotel with 318 rooms and suites in Abu Dhabi’s dynamic Park Complex, home to Park Arjaan by Rotana and The Residences by Rotana.

In the facility, steam and hot water is provided by two 150 HP oil-fired Burnham steam boilers. The hot water is stored in for large calorifier located in a seperate space almost 400 feet away from the boiler room.

The Challenge:

• Improve the function and efficiency of the existing boiler system
• Design a hot water loop from the boiler to the calorifiers
• Continue supply of steam to the hotel's laundry facility and for heating the swimming pool.

ENERVEX Solution:

• A compact, modular VHX-SRS Economizer to recover waste heat from the boiler stack was installed at the termination of the chimney stack. 
• A modulating mechanical draft system controls the exhaust flow rates to maintain the desired flue gas temperature.
• Water flow to/from the calofiers was controlled by a circulation pump and valves.
• Conserve energy and minimize waste by increasing the boiler operating efficiency to 85%

The heat recovery system provided annual savings of approx. $34,000 per year, with a simple payback of less than 2 years.
