A coffee roasting company embarked on an innovative project to upgrade the company's original coffee roasting plant. This initiative was not just about enhancing production capabilities but also about integrating sustainable and efficient energy solutions. Central to this project was the installation of an ENERVEX PowerStack chimney system, designed to withstand the extreme temperatures generated by the coffee roaster and its accompanying afterburner.
The coffee roasting plant features a new state-of-the-art coffee roaster, equipped with an afterburner to manage emissions effectively. This afterburner raises the exhaust temperatures to a staggering 1400-1600 degrees Fahrenheit, necessitating a robust and reliable chimney solution.
The primary challenge of this installation was twofold: managing the extremely high exhaust temperatures and ensuring that the chimney system blended seamlessly with the building’s aesthetic. The high temperatures required a chimney capable of withstanding intense heat without compromising safety or efficiency. Additionally, the chimney needed to match the iconic green of the Starbucks building, maintaining the visual coherence of the site.
ENERVEX designed and provided an 80 feet long, 28" ID Powerstack EPS4 chimney system with 4 inch insulation that not only met the technical requirements but also complemented the building's design. The PowerStack system is engineered to handle high temperatures, making it an ideal choice for the roasting plant’s needs.
To address the aesthetic challenge, a custom powder coated finish was applied to the chimney, ensuring it matched the green color of the building. This attention to detail ensured that the installation was not just functional but also visually pleasing.
The successful installation of the ENERVEX PowerStack chimney at the pilot coffee roasting plant stands as a testament to innovative engineering and thoughtful design. By overcoming the challenges of high exhaust temperatures and aesthetic integration, this project highlights the dedication to quality, sustainability, and community impact. The pilot plant now serves as a model for future installations, showcasing how modern technology can blend seamlessly with corporate values and environmental stewardship.
