Material Planner / Production Scheduler
Job Description
Plan, schedule, coordinate and/or monitor the flow of products through the complete production cycle. Provide timely planning and scheduling of manufacturing work orders to the manufacturing floor in order to achieve both internal financial goals and customer delivery dates.
Responsibilities
- Initiate quotation process, develop and improve supplier relationships and performance.
- Prepare and process purchase orders (PO’s) for materials.
- Plan and manage material replenishment to ensure 100% on‐time delivery of customer orders.
- Plan out Lead Times and Work Orders for sub‐assemblies built internally Interface with VP of Operations.
- Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
- Maintain adequate levels of stocked and controlled components to meet anticipated production demand, adjusting order review points to minimize shortages or overages.
- Take ownership of all material planning related processes and procedure documentation.
- Work with Manager to plan and coordinate production schedules.
- Review production specifications and identify and report plant capacity constraints.
- Monitor workflow and schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with Production Manager to develop and execute production plan.
- Develop effective scheduling process to achieve production objectives.
- Coordinate with production to develop and maintain scheduling parameters.
- Order and stock adequate materials to avoid any shortages.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experience
- Experience in the field of material planning and production scheduling in a metal working and electrical assembly manufacturing environment.
- Ability to understand engineering documents: Bill of Materials (BOM’s), Change Orders and procedures.
- Mastery of plant purchasing for production and Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) expediting, and typical ERP,MRP (i.e., NAV or similar manufacturing software) and MS Office applications.
- Lean manufacturing background preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, time management, and problem solving skills.
- High level of energy with an inherent drive to embrace challenges and continuous improvement.
- Work well with executive management as well as those that are in the trenches.
